The Court Is in Session — and What a Session It Was

One episode. That’s all it took for Night Court to completely win me over. Serving as dialogue coach on NBC’s beloved revival was one of those experiences that reminds you how much history a single set can hold. And such an honor to be requested by director, Ren Bell.

Executive produced by Melissa Rauch and Winston Rauch for After January Productions, alongside showrunner and writer Dan Rubin (of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt fame) and John Larroquette himself — the creative stewardship on this show is extraordinary. Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television brought serious institutional weight to a production that takes its legacy just as seriously.

Melissa Rauch as Judge Abby Stone is magnetic — she carries so much warmth and wit in every moment, and watching her work with John Larroquette, who gives Dan Fielding new layers and depth after all these years, is genuinely a privilege. Lacretta as Gurgs brings irresistible energy to every scene, and the whole ensemble — India de Beaufort, Kapil Talwalkar, and Nyambi Nyambi — keeps the courtroom alive and funny. Getting to sit in that courtroom, even for one episode, was an honor I’ll carry for a long time.
